Expedia – Flight Search Engine
Expedia books airline tickets, but also hotel reservations, car rentals, cruises, vacation packages and various attractions and services. We have used Expedia some few times and the service was really helpful when we had some problems.
They also have good deals. We have bought flight tickets cheaper than at the airline itself.
Momondo – Flight Search Engine
Momondo provides an overview of available flights and prices from airlines and travel providers It not sell flights directly; instead, users are automatically transferred to the airline or travel supplier’s website to make their booking directly.
SkyScanner – Flight Search Engine
Skyscanner is great to compare flight prices of any given route. The website displays a helpful map to see at a glance routes and possibilities.

Airport reviews and the best and worst airports. Tips for sleeping in the airport overnight or while stuck in the airport during transit, weather or airline delays.
Distance From To
Distances between two cities or places calculates the distance (kilometers or miles) between two cities or locations. It is a great tool to calculate our travel time.
I Hate Taxis – How much a taxi should cost?
Recommendations for airports, terminals, train stations, and tourist attraction. Here you can figure out how much a taxi trip should cost, how long the trip is, the currency, and some other helpful information about ‘taxis’

This is an informative list to look for long distance bus options and companies. Even though some countries are not listed (specially some American and African countries), it is pretty much complete.

Even plenty of advertisement, it is a good website to start and figure out what attractions and activities we can do or visit in our destination.
Official Tourism Website
Check out the city official tourism website which is for sure plenty of itineraries, suggestions, festivals and attractions, etc. On the other hand, go to the tourist office of the place upon arriving. So there we can find brochures and maps.
TravBuddy Forum – Blogs and Forums
Blogs and Forums can be very informative, especially the ones written by locals who want to share the beauty of their place with the world. There we can ask for advices, secret places or anything else that we want to know.
There are many!. We love TravBuddy Forum.
Couch Surfing – Meet people
Don’t be shy, meet a local!. It’s much easier that what we think. We suggest to have a look at Couch Surfing, which is good not only to find a free place, but there are many people who will be glad to meet us and share some good time talking about those things that we will never read in a travel guide. There we can find people from the place but also people from our place who are living there.
Rick Steves’ Europe – Audio-guides
We love this website!. Here we will find videos, audio-tours and free audio guides for walking-tours and some museums audio-tour too, really useful!

Everyone know Trip Advisor, right?. It’s good to have a look at the website when planning our trip. There is an interesting forum too. But the good thing about this app is that it works offline, even though only major cities are included.
FourSquare – App for mobiles and tablets
Not too much time to plan?… that’s right, there is not problem, we have FourSquare to help us! :).
This app allow us to see what there are around us: popular attractions, sights, where to eat and more. It is also good as a map. Here is the link to download the app: FourSquare App for mobiles and tablets. So we pick out the place/city that we are going to visit and save it. So now we don’t need internet connection.
Tip!… Do you know someone who was at that place before?… ask him/her everything!!: advices, suggestions, tips.
This section has no secret. These websites are a classic, and they work well.
Probably best known for the endless hostel options, but the website is good to find Hotels, Bed & Breakfasts, Apartments and Campsites as well. We use it many times. It is easy to book and safe. We can see pictures of the place, prices, reviews and the location on a map.

Tripadvisor Hotels & Accommodation
Best hotels reviews… Another favourite website, Book any kind of hotel from budget to luxury in minutes. Hotels, B&B and Inns, Holiday Rentals, luxury, best value, business… we have everything at a glance. They also offer good deals and discounts.
Perfect for booking low-cost accommodation, Airbnb connects travelers seeking authentic experiences with ‘real’ people offering all around the world.
Our favourite point about AirBnB is the opportunity to meet friendly local people who makes us feel as at home. Finding a place and booking it is very simple. We also are able to know about the owner and ask anything we need directly by e-mail. There are entire apartments offered as well.
This community of travellers and people who love cultures has become a popular, safe and accessible way of travel for many of us. This is much more than a free accommodation for a few days, it’s a way to be in contact whit locals, it’s a way to learn about other cultures, and why not, it’s a way to meet new friends around the world. It’s important to be respectful, responsible, honest and open mind (this is not a hotel with meals included!).
The community also hosts groups to join with different topics, categories and information… Hardly recommended!. On the other hand, it will be great if we host travellers at home as well.

Keep you updated of foreign exchange rates and currency conversion. Easy to use, enter the amount that you want to convert and just click the convertor button. Evernote – Free Organizer and Reminder App
Useful when at home too, Evernote is a great tool to keep safe everything that we need to remember: flight information, videos, notes, maps, files, links, pictures, phones… whatever we need.
The search engine allow as to find any note very easily. We use it all the time from our computer, mobile and tablet.
Google Maps Free App – Maps (not connection required)
We will never get lost again!… even not available in all territories, this is just brilliant!. At the beginning we will need to be on-line. First find your destination and select the option ‘Make available offline’. Type the phrase ‘ok maps’ into the ‘search bar’, and search it. So now all the data that is on your screen will be download. Take into account that there is a maximum size to download.
Google Translator Free App – Languages (not connection required)
Travelling to a place where the language is unfamiliar?… we are able to manage it quite well by using Google Translate App, which translates over 70 languages. Speak, type, write or take a picture and translate it. Save the translations and make your own list. Just be careful with the grammar and sentences structures. Tends to do a direct translation that could be wrong.
