If you’re like me, you grew up studying the pages of National Geographic, amazed at the images from around the world.
I began to carry a camera on family vacations and realized how fun travel photography can be. Whether you are on the other side of globe, or a day’s travel from home, visiting a new place can be exciting and enlightening. The ability to bring back quality photos of your travels not only creates visual memories of your trip, but also will yield some highly artistic photos for your portfolio.
Here are a few tips for capturing the better photos on your travels:
.
• Scout locations and be ready to come back
Visit that place that you like it multiple times.
Come back again and again to photograph it in different light/scenarios.
.
• Be friendly
Approach strangers to take their photograph.
Just to be friendly, smile honestly and start a conversation.
.
• Get off of the beaten path
Explore the area and find a viewpoint that is less common.
.
• Stay late (or get up early!)
The combination of ambient light from the sky will create a very aesthetic image.
.
• Let your subject forget about the camera
Most people will let their guard down if you make a small talk and wait few minutes.
.
• Have fun!
Just have fun with your camera and the photos will start adding up!
